Serrallés Castle, El Vigía Cross & Ponce Fire Station
The visit includes major sites like the Serralles Castle, a Spanish Revival mansion built in 1930 for the Serrallés Family, owners of the Don Q rum. Also worth visting are the 100 - foot tall Tower El Vigia Cross, where scouts once scanned for attacking ships the 19th century fire station demonstrate more than 300 years of elegant tradition that has made Ponce the center of Puerto Rico's southern economy.
Enjoy this incredible 268-acre park, the site of the great subterranean caverns carved out by the Camuy River over one million years ago. After a short introductory film a trolley takes you down a paved trail that descends two hundred feet through a fern filled - ravine to the yawning, cathedral - like a cavern. Souvenirs shop and food facilities available.
As the site of the world's largest single-dish radio telescope, the Observatory is recognized as one of the most important national centers for research in radio astronomy, planetary radar and terrestrial aeronomy. Those who see the Arecibo radio telescope for the first time are astounded by the enormousness of the reflecting surface, or radio mirror.
Luquillo offers one of the most stunning beaches and outstanding Balneario in all of Puerto Rico. The Balneario de Luquillo is a mile - long stretch of sculpted sand set against a backdrop of massive palm trees.
El Yunque - Rainforest
